Richard K. Mueller, founder of Neyler Color Litho Co., Inc., had a vision for his company . . . to be a “printer’s printer.” To accomplish this goal, the company began a tradition of innovation. Decades later, NCL Graphic Specialties, Inc., is a recognized leader in the printing industry

1947

THE BEGINNING

Richard Mueller starts Mimeo Letter in his basement in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin..

1963

NEYLER COLOR FORMED

Neyler Color is formed as a printer servicing other printers and envelope manufacturers in Butler, Wisconsin.

1969

FIRST TWO-COLOR PRESS

Neyler expanded to two-color capabilities.

1972

BUILDING & EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

Additional four-color equipment is added along with a 10,000 sq ft addition to the existing building.

1974

FIRST WEB PRESS

Neyler installed a third four-color press.  Purchased first web press, the M-70.

1984

BUILDING & EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

Building is expanded with the addition of a 20,000 sq. ft. cutting facility

1987

FINISHING ADDITION

Building was expanded by 25,000 sq. ft. to house the finishing department.

1990

WAREHOUSE ADDITION

NCL added 18,000 sq. ft. warehouse to existing site

1994

COMPANY RENAMED

ncl-logoNeyler Color-Litho is renamed NCL Graphic Specialties Inc.   A new logo is also introduced.

1997

GOVERNOR'S AWARD

NCL earns the Governor’s Award for Hazardous Waste Reduction. NCL adds a third auto cut and is one of a few companies in North America to  have three auto cuts.

2000

DIGITAL PLATING

NCL and Digital adopt Computer to Plate (CTP) technologies in the pre-press area.

2001

FLEXOGRAPHIC DIVISION & MORE

  • NCL opens a facility for the Flexographic Division in Brookfield, Wisconsin, which produces pressure-sensitive and non-pressure sensitive promotional labels, onpack products, primary pressure-sensitive and glue-applied labels
  • NCL also offers ink-jet printing capabilities and game/sweepstakes management.
  • NCL recognized for outstanding achievement in Packaging/Labels in a printing competition by the Printing Industries of Wisconsin.
  • NCL received a Gold Award for a paper label printed on metalized paper manufactured by Vacumet, Inc., that utilizes seven colors and inline embossing.
2002

Advanta-Pak® INTRODUCED

advantapakNCL developed innovative Advanta-Pak®  packaging System for cut and stack label customers to guarantee no mix bundles and allow for immediate product recognition.

2003

EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

Full web press was installed to meet increased demand in the Label Division.

2005

EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

As part of the expansion of NCL’s cut and stack paper label business a new GS30 press was purchase and installed

2007

BUILDING EXPANSION & MORE

  • NCL opens is third facility, a 35,000 square foot Finished Goods storage operation in Pewaukee, WI, to handle significant increases in customer managed inventory.
  • NCL earns Superior AIB rating in all three facilities.
  • NCL establishes a Sustainability Policy.
2009

EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

  • A seven-color sheetfed press was installed at the main printing facility in Waukesha, WI.  An additional 4 printing units were added to the eight-color flexographic presses at the Flexographic Facility to add capacity for NCL’s promotional products.
  • A new booklet press was added to the Flexographic Division to handle promotional products.
2010

EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

A second sheetfed press was installed to support existing Label Division  growth

2011

NEW BUILDING & EQUIPMENT

NCL built a new 63,000 sq. ft. facility in Menomonee Falls, WI to expand into flexible packaging. A new Heidelbert XL 105 – 8 color press was purchased. A wide web flexo press was also added.

2012

EXECUTIVE NAMED & EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

  • Kimberly Rowan is named President, Corporate Counsel and named to the NCL Board of Directors.
  • New Heidelberg XL 105 comes on line.
2013

WORLD RECORD SET

NCL is recognized for setting a world record in the printing industry. The company printed 77 million impressions in one year on the Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 – 8 color press.

2013

EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

NCL expands flexible packaging division with the purchase of a 40″ Simplex Laminator. Additional product lines include steam bags and stand up pouches.

2014

EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

2016

EQUIPMENT EXPANSION

NCL Graphic Specialties continues to invest in new equipment, slated to launch in March 2017 a new press will be added to the Flexo pressroom, the Uteco Onyx XS will add a new dimension to our already robust capabilities.
